Hello! 

The Modern Crafter is a small independent business run by sisters Rachel & Siobhán.  We hand design and make by hand punch needle and embroidery kits and pride ourselves on the materials that go into our kits.  

We have created our own 100% British Wool which is made in a British mill for our chunky wool punch needle kits.  In our fine punch needle kits we have partnered with Appleton's British tapestry wool.  

Our embroidery kits are all printed on organic cotton using less resources to produce.

Siobhan is an experienced artists and textile designer completing her fashion and textiles degree at Heriott-Watt University in the borders of Scotland.  Siobhan has over 15 years experience working with many high street retails as a print and pattern designer.  

Rachel is the maker of the kits and runs the general day-to-day of the business, Rachel is passionate about the comfort that crafting offers and we both believe that whilst you creative with your hands your mind relaxes.  

We like to make our kits accessible for all and for us it is more about taking that time out to enjoy your own creative flow. Punch Needle is like drawing with wool and in our embroidery kits we focus on 3 beginner stitches so you can enjoy the mindfulness of making with a great sense of joy too with your finished creation.

We also love to teach others punch needle and embroidery through kits and workshops and our book, Punch Needle, 15 contemporary projects.
